Occasionally PCDL branch libraries will host library programs which have elements that are available for library patrons to pick up anytime during normal library service hours. Whether it is a reading contest for a prize with a book reading log or a "make and take" craft for all age groups, these programs are featured here:

 

AURORA MEMORIAL LIBRARY

Celebrate Easter Virtual Storytime & Craft for Children
Now through April 30, 2021
Join Mrs. Tucker from the Aurora Memorial Library for an Easter-themed story time.  Enjoy stories and finger plays and make a stand-up bunny craft!  Craft materials and instructions are available in the Aurora Memorial Library lobby, while supplies last.

NOTE:  You must register for this story time in advance by emailing contests@portagelibrary.org and requesting the “Easter” video link.  The link will be sent to you within 48 hours, and the video will be available through April 30.  For more information, call the library at 330-562-6502.

 

Dinosaurs Virtual Storytime & Craft for Children Ages 2-5
Now through April 30

Join Mrs. Tucker for a dinosaur-themed storytime. Enjoy stories, finger plays, and a stand-up dinosaur craft. Craft materials and instructions are available in the Aurora Memorial Library’s lobby, while supplies last. Instructions for paper plate dinosaur craft are also available on the PCDL website, located on the All-Day Library Programs & Events page. Children will make the craft using their own 9-inch white paper plate and stick-on googly eyes.

"My Favorite Things!" Storytime
Available from February 25 through March 31

Join Mrs. Tucker from the Aurora Memorial Library for a Favorite Things-themed story time. Enjoy stories and finger plays and make a bird craft! Craft materials and instructions are available in the Aurora Memorial Library lobby, while supplies last. Instructions for the craft are also available at the link below, and children can make the craft using their own 9-inch white paper plate and stick-on googly eyes.

Valentine's Day Virtual Storytime & Craft for Children Ages 2-5
Now through March 31

Join Mrs. Tucker for a Valentine's Day-themed storytime. Kids are also invited to make a valentine for someone special when they pick up craft supplies at the the library.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Ongoing Branch Program
Parents and caregivers may take the challenge to read 1,000 books to their preschool children. Starter kit includes a free tote bag. Children receive a free book at the 500-book milestone and a t-shirt when they reach the 1,000 books goal. Call 330-562-6502 for registration.

 

GARRETTSVILLE LIBRARY

Adopt-A-Reading-Buddy Passive Program
Now through March 31

Families are invited to adopt a reading buddy at the Garrettsville Library. Adoption is a big responsibility and, in order to keep your reading buddy happy, you must commit to reading to your buddy for 20 minutes a day. One buddy will be adopted out to each family. To register for this adoption opportunity, please call the Garrettsville Library or stop by the front desk. The "shelter" librarian will then arrange for a convenient time for you to pick up your buddy and complete the "adoption" paperwork. If you feel you cannot make this commitment to read, please allow someone else the opportunity to adopt instead.

Each "adoption" will include: Bobbing-head dog (reading buddy), an adoption certificate, bookmarks, and a reading log. Call 330-527-4378 for additional information. This program is open to children of all ages.

 

Crafting with Marian: Paint a Lovely Mug
Now through April 30

Learn how to paint a lovely mug with paint using brushes and paint pen for detail, accents. Call 330-527-4378 for more information.

 

 

PIERCE STREETSBORO LIBRARY

Ramen O'Rama
Now through April 1

Ramen is a great snack, but it's a better meal. Upgrade your Ramen by adding ingredients to your bowl of noodles. Take home a bag with both chicken and beef Ramen packages, simple recipes to try, and chopsticks. This program is intended for teens. Call 330-626-4458 for more information.

 

Children's Book Bundles
Now until December 31, 2021

Book Bundles consist of 4 to 5 picture books and/or nonfiction books based on a central theme. Also included is a user-friendly craft and/or activity. There are Book Bundles for all ages.
